­The new executive director of the Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC) at Eastern Kentucky University is a familiar name and face to many in the central/eastern Kentucky business community.

Work doesn’t have to be work.

In fact, business is pleasure for 22-year-old junior public relations major Andrew Pennington, an entrepreneur who chose to pursue what he’s most passionate about.

Developed in partnership with the State Science & Technology Institute, the new website — www.regionalinnovation.org — highlights how VDOs are helping entrepreneurs turn their innovations into businesses by providing direct funding and increasing access to capital.

Tucked quietly away in a corner of Eastern Kentucky University’s Business and Technology Center are several rather non-descript small offices.

But it’s home to four area entrepreneurs who are taking advantage of a smorgasbord of services available through the Center for Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Technology at EKU to grow their fledgling businesses.
