Community Ventures Corporation (CVC) is now visiting the Eastern Kentucky University campus in Richmond one day each month to help entrepreneurs and homeowners start and grow their own businesses and move into their own homes.

On the last Wednesday of each month, CVC representatives will meet clients to discuss various lending services and present an hour-long workshop at the EKU Business & Technology Accelerator conference center, according to James Coles, executive vice president of CVC-Lexington.

CVC is a resource to individuals and communities seeking to increase personal and business wealth through affordable housing, job creation and entrepreneurial activities. Headquartered in Lexington and with offices in Bowling Green, Campbellsville, Frankfort, Henderson, Louisville and Paris, CVC offers small and large business loans and has a full range of home ownership products.

The Corporation’s presence on the Richmond campus is in partnership with the EKU Innovation and Commercialization Center, business accelerator and Small Business Development Center.

“This is a great resource to small business owners seeking financing for their business,” said SBDC Director Michael Rodriguez. “Many times the CVC can assist higher-risk clients with financing needs that commercial banks cannot.”

“The ICC, accelerator and SBDC clients will benefit by having an expansive lending component and access to the financial workshops the CVC provides,” said Kristel Smith, executive director of the Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC) at EKU, part of the Center for Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Technology (CEDET). “We are seeking to build a more comprehensive array of services to assist clients with the fundamentals for starting and accelerating their business growth.”

CEDET Director Ian Mooers said he was “very excited about this new partnership. This exemplifies the teamwork of our programs.”
